The San Jose Sharks today released the schedule for the 2008-09 regular season, which includes 82 games.
Some brief highlights of the schedule:
- The Sharks open the preseason at Anaheim on September 24. The open the regular season at home against Anaheim on October 9. They close the season at Los Angeles on April 11.
- The Stanley Cup teams, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings, will be at the Tank for two consecutive games on October 28 and October 30, respectively. The Red Wings also make another appearance at the Tank in January.
- Ron Wilson and his new team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, will visit on December 2.
- Alexander Ovechkin, the 2007-08 MVP, will be in town on November 22.
- Brian Campbell and the Chicago Blackhawks will be in town on November 26 and January 31.
- The Sharks face their divsion rivals three times each at the Tank.
- The longest road trip is 5 games in 9 nights. This will be in February when the Sharks go on a trip to the East.
