Senator Barack Obama announced that he plans to give his acceptance speech of the Democratic nomination at the convention in August in a large stadium near the hall where the convention is held in an email to supports today.
He was scheduled to accept the nomination at the Pepsi Center in Denver in front of the seated delegates at the Democratic National Convention. Instead, he will deliver his acceptance speech at INVESCO Center at Mile High, a stadium that seats 76,125 people. The event will be “open and free” according to the Obama camp.
“Free tickets will become available as the date approaches, but we’ve reserved a special place for a few of the people who brought us this far and who continue to drive this campaign,” the email states. “If you make a donation of $5 or more between now and midnight on July 31st, you could be one of 10 supporters chosen to fly to Denver and spend two days and nights at the convention, meet Barack backstage, and watch his acceptance speech in person.”
